The NP4A is the product of Nordstrand’s original angled pole piece design fused with the simplistic yet throaty and aggressive tone inherent to the P-bass style. The result of this combination produces a vibrational luster that is resonant of all the best aspects of precision-style playing; but is then able to go above and beyond the traditional P pickup with its hard hitting, note sustaining integrity that administers a voice that will carry your sound farther than any standard P could ever dream. A passive tone knob thrown in conjunction with this pickup will reveal an unrelenting and dynamic spectrum of midrange versatility, divinely blending the pickup’s full-bodied bottom-end with its rippling, staccato highs. The NP4A is a truly inspiring amalgam of sonic succulence that retains classic P-style while supporting its bombastic extra-dimensional edge. This pickup will leave any P-player with a tonal fabric that is worthy of their slap-callouss fury.
Technical Details
History: The NP4A was forged in the funktifying crucible of Nordstrand’s tone chasing obsession. It was created in hope of providing P-bass players with a pickup that offers an array of bass-tastic tonality and technicality. Using the angled pole piece technique that Nordstrand has come to be known for, we feel confidant in stating that the NP4A delivers a tone that the player can only hope to domesticate as the shepherd of this hard hitting P-bass power.

Alnico III magnets differ from Alnico V in that they are warmer with a softer character. Think of them like a 60’s J style sound taken even further down the warm and fat path. Alnico V by contrast is brighter, cleaner and punchier, and will have a more wiry, stringy character. As another example, we’d recommend A3 for fretless or a fat 60’s Jaco type thing and A5 is great for a modern slap type thing or an R and B sound.
