In the previous post we discussed studio settings. On to the last thing, which is live applications.
These days many, many live sound scenarios call for in ears only and amps are totally forgone. In this case just hook up the DI. You can send the engineer the eq’d sound if the switch labeled “pre eq” is in the “off” or “out” position. As a general rule I think most engineers won’t mind some gentle eq but extreme settings should probably be discussed first as the powerful eq on the StarLifter may make managing things in the house mix more challenging than they’d like.
I should mention that if things get noisy in whatever scenario you find yourself always try the ground lift on the DI output. This can be remarkably effective in the right situation. There’s also a standard pad switch for flexibility when matching the input of whatever mic preamp you plug the StarLifter into.

Lastly, if you’re lucky enough to get to use a real amp (or maybe unlucky if it’s that trashy dive bar unit) then you can use the StarLifter to make sure you get your best possible sound on stage, bringing you more deeply into the music and the fun of it all. If there’s a house system and engineer you can make them happy with a clean DI signal and then you can dial in your stage sound to make yourself smile. And after all isn’t that the point?
Stay Curious my friends :-)
