There are so many unusual pickup sizes out there and we just can't carry them all. Our solution is the raw pickup. Resident expert, Stew McKinsey, cooks up the goods.
We get several requests a year to make replacement pickups for unusual size covers, sizes we don’t carry. Since not all players want to have custom wood covers made which we can make pickups to fit, we began offering what we call ‘raw’ pickups. In fact, we did this enough that we added one to our product line: the Nordenbocker.
A raw pickup has no plastic shell, but instead the coils are housed in a protective covering made from the same vulcanized fibre that we use to construct our pickup bobbins. While these will look a bit unusual, they will give you the sound and performance that have built our name.
But it’s important to remember that a raw pickup is entirely handmade. This means that it takes a bit longer to make these and they will cost more than our standard models, but the end result is that you will have something unique toyour instrument!
