Shaun Gotti Calloway

Shaun “Gotti” Calloway is a bassist, songwriter, and producer from Chicago, IL. Shaun began playing in 1999 at 11 years old.

Known for his soulful pocket, versatility, and ability to connect across genres, Shaun's sound is  rooted in gospel and R&B. He has built a career performing nationally and internationally with artists spanning jazz, soul, pop, and hip-hop. Shaun’s style blends deep groove with melodic creativity, making him both a solid foundation and a standout voice in any ensemble.

He has shared the stage and studio with a variety of artists, always bringing professionalism, musicianship, and passion for the music. Shaun continues to explore new sounds while staying true to the rhythmic drive that first made him pick up the instrument.

Describe your rig or instrument of choice: Currently playing a Nordy VJ5 with Nordstrand Big Single pickups and 3B preamp in primary Nordy VJ5 bass. Preferred setup balances clarity, punch, and warmth for both live and studio work. I am an EBS endorser however/Markbass is on my Ryder.

How long have you been using Nordstrand? Over 10 years. Introduced through other professional bassists and quickly noticed the tone, responsiveness, and consistency of their gear. Nordstrand gives me the exact voice I hear in my head—warmth, punch, and clarity that always cuts through the mix without ever losing musicality. Nordstrand simply makes me feel more connected to my instrument.
