Born in Alatri (Frosinone, Italy) 1990 Mauro began playing the bass at the age of 10. He was self-taught, then in 2003 he began to study with Maestro Giampiero Merluzzi (Rita Pavone) until 2009. Maestro Merluzzi advises him to study the double bass. Initially he studied with Maestro Stefano Cantarano and then Licinio Refice of the Frosinone Conservatory of Music to attend the classical double bass course under the guidance of Maestro Luca Cola.
After a year at the conservatory, he joined the Young Orchestra of the Teatro Dell'Opera Di Roma with which he performed in the theater itself and in various Italian theaters, in the summer of 2008 in collaboration with Chateaubriand they make a record.
For several years he has been double bassist of the Orchestra D'archi G.Tartini di Latina conducted by Maestro Antonio Cipriani with whom he has collaborated regularly with Maestro Luis Bacalov (Oscar Award for the soundtrack of 'IL POSTINO' 'by Massimo Troisi).
He has played (in rhythm section and / or in orchestra) with an array of artists such as: Patti Smith, Annie Lennox, Tony Hadley, Luis Bacalov, Amii Stewart, Ike Willis, Imany, Lisa Gerrard, Josè Carreras, Noa,Hevia, Anggun, Claudio Baglioni, Cheryl Porter, Simona Molinari, Zarrillo, Gigi & Ross (Colorado Café, Made In South), Ron, Ivana Spain, Tosca, Mietta, Andrea Mirò , Giulia Luzi, Nicola Gargaglia, Roberta Faccani (Matia Bazar), Grazia Di Michele, Sal Da Vinci, Chiara Taigi, Orit Gabriel Stern, Pino Jodice, Annamaria Castelli, Carlo Romano, Simone Guiducci, and many more.
He has opened for Victor Wooten, Dennis Chambers, Bob Franceschini, Scott Henderson, Alain Caron, Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Zucchero, Biagio Antonacci, Stef Burns (A.Cooper, S.Wonder, Ecc. .), Clara Moroni (Vasco), Maurizio Solieri (Vasco), Kelly Joyce, Tiziana Rivale, Sergio Caputo, etc. He has also performed on several soundtracks and classical recordings.
Mauro uses our Nordstrand Big J-Blade 5 (on fretless bass) and NJ5 Vintage Single Coil (on fretted bass). “I really like the cleanness of the sound and although they have a lot of attack the sound is always very hot and round ...
