Alex was born on Barranquilla, Colombia. From an early age he had a strong inclination towards music, and initially began studying acoustic guitar and then he went on to study for his professional career with the faculty of “Bellas Artes” in his city.
He has been playing bass as his main instrument for about thirty years, and it has really been a wonderful experience that has allowed him to perceive the different styles and universal concepts, including, Latin jazz, salsa, pop, gospel and traditional music from his country and some other genres.
But the most interesting of all is the opportunity he has had to share the stage and studio recordings with great colleagues and excellent producers internationally renowned such as Sergio George, Juan Vicente Zambrano, K.C. Porter, Alberto Barros, among others.
Of the most outstanding experiences in his professional field is as a bass player in Grammy winner and nominated productions such as: “Valió la Pena” by Marc Anthony which was the winner of a Latin Grammy for best production of the year, plus work with the excellent Colombian music producer and pianist Milton Salcedo; Latin Grammy winner with his swing 80 production, as well as works for series on Netflix "One Day at a Time" with producers like Emilio Estefan, and a great music producer of the stature of K.C.Porter manager and producer of great artists such as Santana, Laura Pausini, Ricky Martin, Celine Dion, Juanesamong others.

I am currently developing a Bolero jazz project with a touch of bossa nova and feeling with an artist called "Lozano; of Colombian origin and based in the USA, a project in which I have the opportunity to produce musically and participate as a bassist, in addition to having the beautiful privilege of working with my talented son Sebastian Duque on drums, Luisito Quintero; great talented and renowned percussionist who has recorded and worked with various artists such as
Chick Corea and Richard bona, Oscar Hernandez (pianist and producer of Ruben Blades), Jean Case (trumpeter of Michael Bublé), Leandro Farias (Brazilian Guitar Player) Milton Salcedo among others.
I have been happily married for 23 years to Vanessa; wonderful support for my life in every sense and with which we have a 21-year-old son Sebastian Duque; excellent drummer who is currently finishing his musical career in Berklee College of Music, Boston.
In addition to all of the above, I currently work as a producer and director of one of my personal projects "Tocando el Cielo Worship", A gospel project that I combine with my job as a pastor and spiritual counselor in New Jersey.
How did you discover Nordstrand?
I was looking for some microphones to replace the ones that one of my basses had, I first noticed on the net that many well-known artists used them and I started researching them, I started with a colleague who used them and then I got in touch with Stew McKinsey ; great bass player, who kindly explained to me in detail and finally I decided on the product I needed.
