Hometown or residence: I was born and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I lived and played in the Austin area for several years and I'm now living in Nashville, TN
Years playing: I've been playing for nearly 20 years and professionally for over 10. Even from a young age, I was always enamored by music and the guitar. I used to stand on the hearth of the fireplace strumming away at my toy guitar and singing into a toy headset microphone while pretending that I was on stage just like Garth Brooks. Fast forward about 10 years and my grandpa (a former Barbershop Quartet singer) shared his love of music with me and gave me my mom's old acoustic guitar and I began teaching myself how to play.
Pretty soon, an acoustic guitar would become "essential equipment" for weekend camping trips and my Scoutmaster and I would spend hours playing guitar around camp while he taught me about all of the classic bands and players throughout history.
I started playing around local bars in the Austin area while I was studying music at Texas State University. I continued to play with a number of bands and artists in the Austin area before moving to Nashville in the summer of 2017. Since then, I've had the pleasure of working with a number of bands and artists in Nashville and have been playing guitar for American Idol Top 40 Finalist Clay Page for the past several years.
Describe your rig or instrument of choice: Currently, my "go to" guitar is a G&L ASAT Special loaded with a set of Nordstrand AL-SAT Single Coils. These pickups made a HUGE difference in my tone! The Nordstrand AL-SATs gave me the classic country twang that I was looking for as well as some really beefy and punchy tones when overdriven. I can play anything from country to rock and everything in between on the same guitar!
I love a good overdrive pedal so I have a few different flavors available to choose from on my board and my amp of choice is a Mesa Lone Star Special.
How did you discover Nordstrand? I love the look and feel of the ASAT Special but I wasn't quite happy with the tone so I did some searching online and lucked into finding a replacement set of pickups from Nordstrand with a more traditional Alnico V magnet.
